In the 50s and 60s, MGM re released a number of films and referred to them on movie posters as "Masterpiece Reprints". This term has caused some confusion amongst movie poster collectors who have often thought the term "reprint" means that the poster is a reproduction and not an original poster.


Masterpiece Reprint was the terminology used by MGM at this time for some of their re-releases and it appeared on US posters as well as some Australian MGM re releases. The artwork on the re releases was sometimes copied directly from the original release posters as this has caused further confusion amongst collectors.
