Original Australian hand litho long daybill approximately 15″ x 40″ linen backed, very good condition. Prior to backing the lower section of the poster had been separated and was in fragments. The poster was expertly restored and now looks very impressive on linen.

“Long” daybills were produced in Australia until 1941 when they were replaced by the more familiar smaller format. Long daybills varied in widths from approximately 15 inches wide x approximately 40 inches in height. The measurements given in the descriptions are appoximate to the nearest inch.

Mammy is an All-Talking musical drama film with Technicolor sequences, released by Warner Bros. The film starred Al Jolson and was a follow-up to his previous film, Say It With Songs. Mammy became Al Jolson’s fourth feature, following earlier screen efforts as The Jazz Singer, The Singing Fool and Say It With Songs. The movie relives Jolson’s early years as a minstrel man. The songs were written by Irving Berlin, who is also credited with the original story titled Mr. Bones.
