Bernie Bragg Movie Poster Artist

Bernie Bragg was an Illustrator and artist and produced a wide range of images for books, magazines, newspapers and movie posters. His artwork graced the pages and covers of some of the First World War AIF Diaries.

Bernard Bernie William Patrick Bragg, Service number 2870, was 21 when he enlisted on the 16 November 1916 at the Royal Agricultural Show Ground in Sydney.  His service record lists his occupation as a “Draughtsman”. He embarked from Sydney on A19 Africa on 8 November 1916 and arrived at Plymouth in January the following year.

He was sent to France to join the 59th Battalion and later to the 15th Brigade Headquarters.  Bernie Bragg was appointed as a regimental draftsman, responsible for drawing the maps and diagrams used by the regiment.  At the end of the War he was honoured with a Mention in Despatches.

During his time in France with the 15 Infantry Brigade he produced some wonderful graphic designs for War Diary Covers, no doubt drawing from his experiences.
